Heard an acoustic version of this classic by a covers band on a 
local radio station & was inspired to create my own spin.

As a guide, use a strum pattern which kind of mimics the lyrics a bit.
I play the G D Em sequence throughout with single short up strums to match lyric timing.
If you listen to the original album version the power chord fills are obvious. 

Play as a slightly slower funkier acoustic version of the original...
Use a capo for different keys...
