[Intro]

[Verse 1]

Well I wish I

had a shotgun

I'd tie it to

my side

Never be witho

ut the power

To make a man

do right

Steady on my s

houlders

Standing in th

e wind

Well I've been

 down before

But I won't be

 down again

[Verse 2]

And if I had a

 pony

How fast I wou

ld ride

Yippie-tiy-iy-

ay

With the shotg

un at my side

An outlaw to m

y foes

A hero to my f

riends

I've been down

 before

But I won't be

 down again

[Verse 3]

Well the days

would be so ea

sy

The nights wou

ld be so slow

I'd turn my po

ny south, boys

And ride to Me

xico

My pockets ful

l of silver

To gamble or t

o lay

Cause I've bee

n down before

But I won't be

 down again

[Verse 4]

But I ain't go

t no silver

No pony, no gu

n

All I got's th

is hammer

Like old John

Henry swung

Been ten years

 on this chain

 gang

One more day,

and then

I've been down

 before

But I won't be

 down again

[Verse 5]

Now standing o

n this rock pi

le

Of four and tw

enty men

Well I've been

 down before

But I won't be

 down again

I've been down

 before

But I won't be

 down again
