Note that the song is only in Fm when the capo is on the first fret. without a capo it's in Em, on two it's in
F#m and so on. for the 'strumming pattern' i play two root notes in a dotted quarter eighth rhythm and then 
strum the chord. if you listen to The Civil Wars cover of the song that will make sense. In The Civil Wars
cover they use Bm instead of D which you can switch out or just go look at their tab but I thought D sounded
