Preface: I have separated out the tablature into the individual patterns/elements that are played so that
it may help with memorization, since this song involves a lot of repetition. It also allows me to label the
transitions into the next song element, which often involves a small variation. These transitions appear in
the tab as Ending 1/Ending 2 as you may have encountered in sheet music. Ending 1 will often indicate you
should return to the beginning of that pattern/element and repeat it, whereas taking Ending 2 will allow you
to progress to the next section of the song. Unfortunately, this means you may have to do some backtracking
with your eyes initially as you are learning how the parts fit together.
Please take note of the Song Structure at the bottom of the tab, as this will help you keep track of the
number of repeats in each section. Below that, I will also post the entirety of the tab with all the
transitions tabbed out in order for those who may wish to print out a paper copy.
I would also highly recommend listening to the isolated bass track because it will be much easier to
discern pitches, rhythms, tone, etc of the bass part without the rest of the instruments on top. Fortunately,
there are several uploads of the isolated bass track for Hysteria on Youtube. You may find them useful now,
especially since the CHORUS rhythm can be a little tricky to get perfect.
On a personal note and at the risk of appearing like an arrogant buffoon, I would like to state that I
transcribed this bass tab by ear directly from the isolated track, compared it to video footage for hand
positions and formatted it myself. I do not agree with people taking the work of others even if credit is
given in name, since I feel original tabbers should take care to be as accurate as possible before releasing.
If later tabs do end up being more accurate, views should be directed to them instead. (Sorry, this is my
least favourite part of the tab too!)
