Capo III *
[Verse 1]
I'm sitting in
the railway s
tation.
Got a ticket f
or my destinat
ion.
On a tour of o
ne-night stand
s my suitcase
and guitar in
hand.
And ev'ry stop
is neatly pla
nned for a poe
t and a one-ma
n band.
[Chorus]
Homeward bound
,
I wish I was,
Homeward bound
Home where my
thought's esca
ping,
Home where my
music's playin
g,
Home where my
love lies wait
ing
Silently for m
e.
[Verse 2]
Ev'ry day's an
endless strea
m
Of cigarettes
and magazines.
And each town
looks the same
to me, the mo
vies and the f
actories
And ev'ry stra
nger's face I
see reminds me
that I long t
o be,
[Chorus]
Homeward bound
,
I wish I was,
Homeward bound
Home where my
thought's esca
ping,
Home where my
music's playin
g,
Home where my
love lies wait
ing
Silently for m
e.
[Verse 3]
Tonight I'll s
ing my songs a
gain,
I'll play the
game and prete
nd.
But all my wor
ds come back t
o me in shades
of mediocrity
Like emptiness
in harmony I
need someone t
o comfort me.
[Chorus]
Homeward bound
,
I wish I was,
Homeward bound
Home where my
thought's esca
ping,
Home where my
music's playin
g,
Home where my
love lies wait
ing
Silently for m
e.
[Outro]
Silently for m
e.
