You've Got To Hide Your Love Away
The Beatles
Written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney; released on the album "Help!".

This Dylan-influenced song (written mainly by John) is among the few Beatles 
compositions in 3/4 time (which is frequent among Bob Dylan's songs by the 
way). The song's arrangement is uncommon for an "early" Beatles song; it 
contains two acoustic guitars (one of them tuned to dropped-D), a bassline 
that contains hardly anything else but "humming" the root notes of the chords 
on the downbeats, a low-key percussion track (tambourine, maracas and snare 
drum played with drum brushes), and most notably flutes in the ending solo, 
played by professional musician John Scott. The song's verses use the same 
chord progression as John's earlier (and also Dylan-influenced) song "I'm A 
Loser".
In respect of lyrics, "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" fits well to the 
line of John's darker, more melancholic compositions of the time ("I'll Be 
Back", almost all his songs on the "Beatles For Sale" album, "Ticket To Ride" 
and "Help!").
